The incredible story of love, bravery and community that has inspired Middle Tennessee was told to the rest of America on Sunday, October 8, 2006 and again on March 18th, 2007, on the popular ABC reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

The Hawkins family has weathered some extreme events since a massive F3 tornado leveled their Hendersonville home in April and put Amy Hawkins, the mother of two young boys, in a wheelchair. This past summer, however, their saga took another twist -- but this time, for the better. Extremely better.

Between July 30 and August 3, 2006, in an amazing 94 hours, Nashville-based Capitol Homes hand-crafted a brand new home for the Hawkins Family.

The Capitol Homes staff teamed up with nearly 2,000 area volunteers, 100 generous companies and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team members Ty Pennington, Ed Sanders, Paul DiMeo, Preston Sharp and Tracy Hutson to clear the remaining rubble of the Hawkins' destroyed home and replace it with an 'extreme home,' complete with all the over-the-top design features the show's viewers have come to expect.
